This Week’s Playbook. Nobody's going to tell you why they left. They'll say it was scheduling. Or fees. Or travel ball. But the real reasons? Those are fixable. And they're all in this issue.

“You get more of what you recognize. And if you want better culture, you have to praise it on purpose.”

OPS & REVENUE PLAYBOOK

Families Register Late For Predictable Reasons. Here’s How To Plan For It.

Registration closed March 1. Your inbox opened March 2.

"Hey, we meant to sign up but things got crazy." "Is there still room?" "Ella just finished school basketball and wants to play spring soccer."

You say yes because you need the numbers. Now you're rebalancing rosters, rush-ordering uniforms, and explaining to coaches why three new kids showed up in week two.

The families aren't being flaky. They're multi-sport families who couldn't commit until school ball ended. Your timeline just didn't account for that.

Here's the two-phase model that rewards early commitment, accommodates the families still figuring it out, and gives you a deadline that actually sticks.

"Boys Will Be Boys" Is Four Words Away From a Crisis

Monday morning. Parent email. Older players made her kid carry bags and do push-ups until he cried.

You ask the coach. He shrugs: "It's just how kids bond."

Without clear systems, this escalates. Every time.

Inside: the preseason language that stops it, the exact script for Coach "It's Just Bonding," and the response framework when a parent says "I want this handled."

PARENT AND COMMUNITY

The Quiet Families Are The Ones You're Losing. Here's How To Reach Them.

Ask a parent why they left. They'll say scheduling. Fees. Logistics.

Ask a few more questions and the real answer shows up. They didn't feel connected. Nobody knew their name. The program was fine. It just never felt like theirs.

The families who stay seven years? They all say some version of: "We belong here."

That feeling isn't accidental. Here's the welcome system that creates it.
